The Boston University women’s basketball team will look to win its third straight game when the Terriers travel to Cambridge, Mass., to play Harvard. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
BU (3-2) has looked sharp in its last two victories, both of which came at home. The Terriers defeated Northeastern, 75-65, on Nov. 22 before they beat Rhode Island by 27 points, 71-44, on Saturday. Senior guard Alex Young poured in a game high 18 points, while junior guard Chantell Alford added 15 points and tied a career high with seven steals.
Young (18.6 points per game) and Alford (12.2) are first and second, respectively, in scoring. Junior guard Mo Moran is the other Terrier averaging double figures in points, as she pours in 10.2 ppg. Sophomore forward Rashidat Agboola averages 8.6 rebounds per game, while senior forward Caroline Stewart has hit the glass for 7.8 rpg.
Harvard (1-4) began the season on a three-game losing streak before splitting the last two contests. The Crimson lost a 13- point second-half lead in its last contest, eventually losing to Holy Cross, 73-68. Harvard has three players who average more than 10.0 ppg. Sophomore guard Christine Clark leads the way with 18.0 ppg and 6.0 rebounds per game. Senior guard Brogan Berry averages 11.8 ppg, while junior forward Victoria Lippert has poured in 10.8 ppg this season. Harvard also leads the Ivy League in field-goal percentage (42.8) and free-throw percentage (76.0).
The Crimson has won the previous two matchups against BU to even the all-time series, 13-13. The Terriers last defeated Harvard on Dec. 9, 2008, an 80-61 triumph at Case Gym. That win was a historic one for the Terriers, as it was the 450th win in program history.
After BU takes on Harvard, the Terriers will conclude the road trip at West Virginia on Saturday. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
