BOSTON - Beginning a three-match homestand, the Boston University men's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to Marist at the Track and Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon. With its third-consecutive one-point loss, the Terriers drop to 6-8, while the Red Foxes improve to 5-1.
BU won two of the three doubles contests for the first point, but Marist captured four of the six singles contests for the team victory. None of the matches went to a third set.
The Red Foxes entered the match having earned convincing victories over Fairleigh Dickinson (7-0), Stony Brook (6-1) and Yale (5-2). The Terriers battled with Marist but just couldn't get the necessary break points.
Freshman Jesse Frieder blanked his opponent at the No. 3 slot, and sophomore Josh Friedman earned a 6-4, 6-4 victory against Marist's top player, Joris Van Eck.
The Terriers will next host Holy Cross on Wednesday, March 30, at 3 p.m.
