
Men's Tennis Defeats Villanova, 5-2

BOSTON - Playing its first of three straight major conference opponents, the Boston University men's tennis team earned a 5-2 victory over Villanova Friday afternoon at the Track and Tennis Center. With the win, the Terriers improve to 9-9, while the Wildcats fall to 8-14.
BU earned the doubles point with two tough wins and then captured four of the six singles matches for the victory.
In doubles, freshmen Jesse Frieder and Jarred Pendleton snapped the 13-match winning streak of Ryan Peyton and David Shaheen with an 8-4 win at the No. 2 spot. Sophomore Josh Friedman and junior Michael Kopelman pulled out a tiebreaker in a 9-8(7-5) victory to give BU the doubles point.
In singles, sophomore Ferdinand Brunet dropped five games at No. 4 in a 6-4, 6-1 victory. Friedman also won in straight sets, while Frieder and sophomore Alex Hallenbeck went to a third for the other two points.
The Terriers will next visit Boston College on Sunday for a 4 p.m. meeting.
