
Terriers Travel to Stony Brook for Saturday Afternoon Affair

BOSTON - The Boston University women’s basketball team looks to extend its three-game winning streak as the Terriers visit Stony Brook on Saturday, Jan. 14. Game time is set for 2 p.m. in Stony Brook, N.Y.
BU is coming off a 75-34 victory over Maine on Thursday night in which nine different players scored at least four points for the Terriers. BU matched its season-high with 75 points and held Maine to the lowest point total (34) of a Terriers’ opponent this season.
Senior Alex Young led the Terriers with 22 points and matched her career-high with six made three-pointers. Junior Chantell Alford netted 13 points and matched her career-best with seven assists. Junior Kristen Sims and sophomore Rashidat Agboola posted eight points apiece while senior Caroline Stewart grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds to go with six points.
Alford currently leads the Terriers with 12.4 points per game while Mo Moran is second on the team with 11.3 ppg. Young ranks third on the tea with 10.5 ppg while Stewart leads BU with 8.7 rebounds per game.
Stony Brook enters Saturday’s contest with a 4-13 (1-3 AE) record. The Seawolves have dropped their last three contests, including a 73-47 decision to UMBC on Thursday night. Stony Brook opened America East play with a 54-47 victory over Vermont on Jan. 2, before falling to Binghamton (44-32) and Albany (57-32).
Senior guard Whitney Davis leads the team in scoring, averaging 7.5 points per game while junior guard Dani Klupenger is second with 6.9 points per game. Junior forward Jessica Previlon leads the team with 6.1 rebounds per game while also chipping in 5.8 ppg. As a team, the Seawolves are shooting 30.1 percent from the field and 25.1 percent from beyond the arc.
The Terriers own a 16-7 all-time record against Stony Brook since the Seawolves joined the conference in the 2001-02 season. BU has rattled off eight-straight victories over SBU, including two last season. The Terriers topped the Seawolves on the road, 82-65, on Jan. 20, 2011, and then defeated Stony Brook, 72-68, at home on Feb. 20, 2011.
BU returns to New York for its next game, with a visit to Albany on Monday, Jan. 16. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. in New York’s capital city.
