
Women's Basketball Visits Albany on Monday Night

Playing its second game in three days in the Empire State, the Boston University women's basketball team visits Albany on Monday night to battle for first place in the America East standings. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. at SEFCU Arena.
Boston University (11-6, 4-0) is riding a four-game winning streak, as the Terriers defeated Stony Brook, 69-34, on Saturday afternoon. For the second-straight game, nine players contributed offensively for BU with all 12 players seeing game action. Senior Alex Young sank five three-pointers to lead the Terriers with 15 points while junior Chantell Alford tallied 13 points to go with six assists. Sophomore Rashidat Agboola nearly notched her fourth double-double of the season, falling just shy with nine points and nine rebounds.
BU shot a season-high 51.8 percent from the field and converted 8-of-16 shots (50.0 percent) from beyond the arc while limiting the Seawolves to a 23.0 percent (14-of-61) performance. BU has now held its last three opponents to under 50 points while limiting its last two foes to 34 points each.
Albany enters Monday's game sitting atop the America East standings with an 11-7 overall record and a 5-0 mark in conference play. The Great Danes are winners of their last five games, including a 60-48 victory at Maine on Saturday afternoon. Head coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson is in her second season at Albany after previously holding the position of associate head coach at Indiana University.
Junior guard Ebone Henry leads the Great Danes with 13.9 points per game and is second on the team with 6.8 rebounds per game. Senior guard Cassandra Callaway is second on the team with 11.4 points per contest while junior forward Julie Foster leads Albany with 9.8 rebounds per game while chipping in 9.4 points per game. As a team, the Great Danes are shooting 36.1 percent from the field and averaging 57.2 points per game.
The Terriers lead the all-time series, 18-4, including a sweep of the 2008-09, 2009-10 and 2010-11 series. The rivalry began on Jan. 18, 2000 with a 68-55 Terrier win that sparked seven consecutive BU victories. Last year, BU defeated the Great Danes, 72-59 on the road on Jan. 15, 2011, before falling, 77-68, at home on Feb. 9, 2011.
BU will return to Case Gym for two games, starting with New Hampshire on Thursday, Jan. 19. Tip-off between the Terriers and Wildcats is set for 7 p.m.
