The Boston University women’s basketball team, riding the sixth-longest winning streak in the country, travels to Durham, N.H., on Feb. 15 to face the New Hampshire Wildcats. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
The Terriers (19-6) own a perfect 12-0 record in conference play as the only undefeated team in the America East. BU is averaging 64.8 points per game against league opponents, out-scoring their foes by an average of 17.9 points. The Terriers are shooting 39.9 percent from the floor and 37.7 from beyond the arc in their past 12 outings. BU has held America East opponents to 46.8 points per game while limiting 10-of-12 league opponents to less than 60.0 ppg.
Junior Chantell Alford leads the Terriers with 13.2 ppg while classmate Mo Moran and senior Alex Young average 11.0 ppg and 10.1 ppg, respectively. Senior Caroline Stewart leads the Terriers in rebounds with 8.6 boards per game to go with 7.6 ppg while sophomore Rashidat Agboola averages 9.6 ppg and 8.3 rpg.
The Terriers can clinch a share of the regular-season championship with a victory at UNH on Wednesday coupled with an Albany loss at Vermont. If both BU and Albany prevail on Wednesday, the Terriers can capture the conference crown out-right with a victory against the Great Danes on Saturday. Should BU fall against UNH, Albany will still be in the running for the regular season title on Saturday.
New Hampshire enters Wednesday’s game with a 13-11 overall record and a 6-6 mark in America East play. The Wildcats snapped a two-game losing streak on Sunday, as they defeated Vermont, 58-48. This will be the second meeting between BU and UNH this season, as the Terriers posted a 79-39 victory in Boston on Jan. 19.
Junior forward Morgan Frame leads the Wildcats with 16.1 points per game after missing the first eight games due to NCAA transfer regulations. Senior forward Denise Beliveau’s 14.2 points per game third in the conference while sophomore guard Kelsey Hogan chips in 10.1 ppg. Beliveau leads the team with 8.5 rebounds per game while Frame is right behind her with 7.7 boards per game. As a team, the Wildcats average 58.2 points per game and shoot 37.2 percent from the field. The team leads the league from the charity stripe, converting on 71.3 percent of its opportunities.
The Terriers return to Case Gym on Saturday, Feb. 18, to host Albany at 3 p.m. BU will honor its three senior student-athletes and one senior student-manager prior to the game.
