Terriers Host UMBC Wednesday Night in Final Home Game

The Boston University women's basketball team plays its final home game of the regular season on Wednesday night, as the Terriers welcome UMBC to Case Gym. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.

After winning its first 13 games in conference action, BU had the sixth-longest winning streak in the nation snapped by Albany on Feb. 18, as the Great Danes prevailed, 48-41. It was the Terrier's first loss since their non-conference finale, a 75-38 defeat at St. John's on Dec. 31. During the winning streak, BU averaged 64.6 points per game, beating its opponents by an average of 17.4 points. The Terriers' 41 points were the fewest points scored by BU in conference action this season.

The Terriers lead the America East in several statistical categories. BU's 60.0 points per game lead the league while the Terriers are also out-scoring foes by a margin of 6.9 points. BU leads the conference in field goal percentage defense (.342) as well as assist to turnover ratio (0.9).

Junior Chantell Alford leads the team with 12.8 points per game while classmate Mo Moran ranks second with 10.7 ppg. Sophomore Rashidat Agboola is BU's top rebounder with 8.6 boards per game while senior Caroline Stewart pulls down 8.4 boards per contest.

UMBC arrives in Boston with a 14-13 record and an 8-6 mark in America East play. The Retrievers saw their three-game winning streak snapped on Saturday, as UMBC fell to Hartford, 66-54. Earlier this season, BU defeated UMBC, 59-53 on Jan. 25.

Senior Erin Brown leads the Retrievers with 14.8 points per game while classmate Michelle Kurowski is second on the team with 13.2 ppg. Junior Kristin Coles is UMBC's top rebounder with 7.1 boards per game while chipping in 8.3 ppg. As a team, the Retrievers are second in the league with 61.9 points per game and lead the conference with a .399 field goal percentage.

BU will conclude the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 25, as the Terriers travel to Hartford. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. in Hartford, Conn., with the game being broadcast on ESPN3.
