The Boston University women's lacrosse team will conclude its regular-season schedule on Saturday when the Terriers visit Binghamton for an America East contest. Game time is set for 12 p.m.
This is the only game on Saturday's America East docket with no playoff implications, as BU (10-5, 5-0 America East) has clinched the top seed in the conference tournament while Binghamton (3-12, 0-5 America East) has been eliminated from playoff contention. The Terriers can clinch the outright regular-season title with a victory or a Stony Brook loss.
BU enters Saturday's showdown having won nine of its last 10 games. The Terriers have won all 10 games in the series history with the Bearcats, including a 15-6 victory last season at Nickerson Field. BU is 5-0 all-time at Binghamton.
Sophomore goalkeeper Christina Sheridan was named America East Defender of the Week on Monday after she made a career-high 15 saves in an 11-6 win over Canisius on Sunday. Sheridan made 10 of those saves in the second half and the six Canisius goals were the fewest she has allowed an opponent to score against her this season.
On offense, junior Danielle Etrasco leads the Terriers in goals (50) and points (67). She scored four goals and added two assists against Canisius. Freshman Mallory Collins is second in both of those categories with 44 goals and 51 points. Senior Catie Tilton is tops on the team with a career-high 35 assists.
Etrasco also has a team-best 42 draw controls. Sophomore Sydney Godett has also been great on the draws, as she has controlled 30. Senior Annie Stookesberry has been terrific in the midfield this year, as she has gathered 19 ground balls, 20 draw controls and a team-leading 14 caused turnovers.
Sheridan improved her goals-against average to 11.54 with the win on Sunday. She also owns a .420 save percentage and has started every game this season. Junior Kim Elsworth may also see some time in the cage. She has made two appearances this season and earned her first win of the season against Stony Brook on April 14. Elsworth made nine saves in the victory.
The Bearcats are winless in conference play and dropped to 3-12 on the season with a 17-8 loss against No. 12/13 Cornell on Tuesday. Senior Lis Zuern leads the Bearcats with 33 goals and is second on the squad in both assists (13) and points (46). Junior Kimberly McGeever leads Binghamton with 30 assists and 51 points.
Defensively, three players are tied for the lead with 15 caused turnovers. One of those players, junior Katherine Hunsberger, is also tops on the team with 46 draw controls. Senior Lauren Lukefahr has gathered a team-best 29 ground balls. Freshman Kara Pafumi has been the lone goaltender for the Bearcats this season. The rookie has posted a goal-against average of 13.50 and a save percentage of .377.
The Terriers will find out who their semifinal opponent will be following Saturday's slate of games. BU will face either Albany, Vermont or UMBC on Thursday (May 3) at Nickerson Field.
