AMHERST, Mass. – The Boston University men’s swimming and diving team earned its first victory of the season with a 186-105 win over Massachusetts on Saturday afternoon at Joseph R. Rogers, Jr. Pool.

The Terriers earned first-place finishes in 12 of the 16 events to earn the victory over the Minutemen.

BU opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay with juniors Connor Stuewe and Ryan Bach combing with freshmen Austin Dickey and Brian Habacivch to finish in 1:33.21. The Terriers also won the other relay event, the 200 freestyle relay, with a time of 1:25.50 achieved by Bach, Habacivch and juniors Cole Puchi and Andy Vazquez.

The Terriers took first and second place in the first individual race of the meet, the 1000 freestyle. Senior Jeff Thomas won the event with a time of 9:47.05 while junior Alec Pokornowski was second in 9:49.64. In the 200 freestyle, Vazquez picked up the first-place finish for the Terriers in 1:43.70.

Stuewe earned his first individual victory of the day in the 100 backstroke (51.00) and also came in first in the 200 backstroke (1:52.02). Puchi also returned to the pool for a win in the 100 freestyle (47.38).

Dickey secured a win in the 100 breaststroke (55.62), which was the fastest time ever recorded in the event in the Minutemen's pool. The freshman later placed second in the 200 breaststroke (2:08.97) behind junior Mario Caballero (who won in 2:08.46).

Sophomore Mun Hon Lee placed first in the 200 butterfly by clocking in at 1:53.02 and also picked up the victory in the 100 butterfly (52.09). He earned this team-leading third individual victory of the day with a win in the 200 IM (1:55.64).

In the diving events, sophomores Brandon Weiss (223.27) and Austin Kruger (122.85) placed second and third, respectively, on the 1m board. Weiss later placed second in the 3m competition with a score of 220.42.

The Terriers return to action next Saturday (Oct. 19) when they will compete in an exhibition meet against Brown and Rhode Island in Providence, R.I. The competition is set to begin at 11 a.m.
