BOSTON – Facing its second straight Ivy League opponent, the Boston University women’s lacrosse team travels to Ithaca, N.Y., to take on Cornell on Saturday (April 27). Opening draw is set for 1 p.m. at Schoellkopf Field.

BU (6-8, 4-2 America East) is coming off a 16-15 victory over Yale on Wednesday afternoon. Cornell (9-5, 4-3 Ivy League) is the fourth Ivy League opponent that the Terriers will face this season. The Terriers have gone 2-1 over Ivy League members following Wednesday’s win at Yale and a 12-11 triumph over Harvard on March 29. BU fell to then-No. 13 Dartmouth, 12-7, on March 6.

Saturday’s game is just the second-ever meeting between the Terriers and the Big Red. The only other time that these two teams faced off was during the 2002 season, when Cornell defeated BU, 11-8, at Nickerson Field.

In their last game, the Terriers had eight different players score and were led by senior Danielle Etrasco’s six goals. Etrasco leads BU with 54 goals on the season, marking the third consecutive season she has scored at least 50 goals, and ranks second in the nation with 3.86 goals per game. Junior Elizabeth Morse is the only other Terrier with at least 20 goals, as she has 22 goals and seven assists on the season for 29 points. Sophomore Lindsay Weiner is second on the team with 15 assists while classmate Jenna Boarman has 11 helpers on the year.

Etrasco is one of four players with at least 20 draw controls for BU, as she leads the team with 38. Freshman Jill Horka is second on the squad with 29 draws followed by junior Sydney Godett (23) and freshman Sofia Robins (22). Etrasco also leads the team with 20 caused turnovers while Horka has 19 on the season. Junior Nell Burdis has been one of BU’s top defenders, as she has 25 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers.

Junior Christina Sheridan has played the majority of the minutes in the net for the Terriers and has a 12.42 goals against average and a .424 save percentage.

Cornell rides a two-game winning streak into its regular season finale with its most recent victory coming against America East member Binghamton, 17-11, on Tuesday night. The Big Red average 12.21 goals per game while holding opponents to 10.29 goals per contest.

Sophomore Lindsay Toppe leads Cornell with 43 goals while adding 11 assists for a team-high 54 points. Senior Caroline Salisbury is second with 30 goals while freshman Emily Tripodi’s 30 assists lead the team. Sophomore Sarah Hefner and Salisbury lead the Big Red in the circle, with 41 and 40 draw controls, respectively.

Defensively, senior Kate Ivory is Cornell’s top player, as she has a team-high 46 ground balls along with 31 caused turnovers.

Senior Courtney Gallagher has spent the most time in between the pipes for Cornell and owns an 11.15 goals against average along with a .377 save percentage.
