
Eichel Adds National Rookie Honor for October

WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Freshman center Jack Eichel of the fifth-ranked Boston University men's ice hockey team has captured Hockey Commissioners' Association National Division I Rookie of the Month honors for October, as announced on Wednesday.
The North Chelmsford, Massachusetts, native pushed the Terriers to their best start in 13 years, averaging two points per game in October to help them claim a perfect 4-0-0 record in the month.
He tallied eight points (4g, 4a) and a plus-9 rating over the four games and opened his collegiate career with a four-point effort at Massachusetts in an 8-1 triumph in the season opener.
The rookie standout assisted on BU's lone goal in a 1-0 victory over Michigan State on Oct. 24 before adding his third tally of the month the next night against then-No. 14 Michigan. Eichel finished the month with a shorthanded goal in a 4-1 win over then-No. 8/9 Providence.
He currently leads Hockey East in conference scoring with seven points (3g, 4a) in three games. Eichel was also named Pro Ambitions Hockey East Rookie of the Month for October.
