
Sandoval Named ITA Scholar-Athlete

BOSTON - After being placed on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, rising Boston University men's tennis sophomore Mario Sandoval was named an ITA Scholar Athlete.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman thorough senior year).
Sandoval is majoring in human physiology and helped lead the Terriers to the 2014 Patriot League tournament semifinals. He finished his first year at BU with 12 singles wins, including six at the No. 4 slot, and 10 doubles victories, highlighted by a 7-6 mark in the No. 2 spot.
Recent graduate Jesse Frieder and sophomore Jake De Vries joined Sandoval on the PL honor roll after posting GPAs of 3.2 or higher during the spring semester.
