WAKEFIELD, Mass. - After helping Boston University earn a pair of draws against top-ranked Providence, freshman Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson and sophomore Connor LaCouvee have been named the Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week and the Hockey East Co-Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Forsbacka Karlsson had a hand in all four BU goals during the home-and-home series. He scored a goal and added two assists in the third period of a 3-3 tie Saturday evening after assisting on the lone goal Friday night with just 1:29 left to play in the third period.
LaCouvee stopped 64 of 68 shots over the weekend to extend his and the team's unbeaten streak to five games (3-0-2). He has allowed just one even-strength goal in the last 10 periods of play.
These are the first Hockey East weekly honors for both players.
