BOSTON - The Boston University swimming and diving team finished competition at the Terrier Invitational on Sunday evening in the BU Competition Pool. The women's team placed second out of eight teams while the men's squad finished in fourth out of seven teams.
The women's team made an impressive attempt to win the meet after being out of first place by 160 points on day two, but fell short by just 20 points to Army West Point. The men's squad jumped up to fourth after sitting in fifth place after two days.
The comeback attempt was bolstered by the women's win in the final race of the meet, the 400 freestyle relay, which earned the team 40 points.
Three Terriers won their events on Sunday, including Erin Nabney and Daniel Andronov in the 200 breaststroke and Stephanie Nasson in the 1650 freestyle. Nabney's time in the 200 breaststroke preliminary (2:17.15) was a personal record, her second PR of the weekend.
Nikki Bookwalter was one of two Terriers to place second on the day, finishing with a time of 2:02.65 in the 200 backstroke. Julimar Avila also had a second place finish in the 100 freestyle (51.31) and recorded a personal best time in the event.
In the diving pool, Lizzie Tillo finished in first place on the one-meter board and took second on the three-meter to lead the women's team while Adam Gross (1M) and Eric Mitchell (3M) each placed second in their events on the men's side.
The Terriers return to action in two weeks when they compete at the Rutgers Quad Meet on Dec. 5, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
