MIAMI, Fla. - Competing in its final spring break match, the Boston University women's tennis team claimed a 5-2 victory at Florida International on Saturday afternoon. With their third straight win, the Terriers improve to 7-4, while the Panthers (6-6) see their four-match win streak snapped.

Freshman Iryna Kostirko (#3), sophomore Barbara Rodriguez (#4) and Iris Lin (#5) all claimed singles victories in straight sets. FIU forfeited at No. 6 singles to junior Kim McCallum to give the Terriers another point.

The Panthers earned a 6-2 win in the top doubles slot but forfeited at No. 3 to put the first point up for grabs. Juniors Lauren Davis and Madison Craftpulled out the 6-3 victory at No. 2 to put BU ahead early, 1-0.

FIU won its two points in the top singles slots. Ending the 2013-14 season ranked No. 34 nationally and starting the 2014-15 season at No. 24, Clemson graduate student transfer Kara Koroleva got hot early and went on to defeat junior Johanna Hyoty, 6-0, 6-2. Davis tried to force a third set against Nerma Caluk but came up short in the second-set tiebreaker for the 6-2, 7-6(4) loss.

BU will return to the northeast and visit No. 66 Brown on Saturday (March 21) for a 12 p.m. start.
