Terriers Cap Regular Season With 4-2 Win Over Army West Point

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Boston University women's tennis team (8-9, 6-0 PL) defeated Army West Point (21-6, 6-2 PL) in a 4-2 decision on Sunday. The win helped BU remain undefeated in Patriot League play to close out the regular season.
Doubles saw Army take the first win at line two before sophomore Gabriella Mikaul and junior Nancy Liu won at line one, 6-2, to force the decision to line three. Seniors Emily Zhao and Rhea Rai teamed to battle through a tiebreak, winning 7-6 (3) at the No. 3 spot to give BU the doubles point.
In singles, BU extended its lead to 3-0 with wins at the Nos. 5 and 1 spots, respectively. Junior Blanka DeMicheli posted a 6-3, 6-3 win at line five and was backed by Mikaul who won 6-1, 7-5 at the top of the lineup.
Army came back to win at lines four and six, closing in on BU's lead 3-2. Junior Ellie Gyuro stopped Army's momentum when she won 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 at line three to secure the 4-2 victory for the Terriers.
BU will await its seed for the Patriot League Championship which begins on Thursday, April 16.
