LEWISBURG, Pa. – The top-seeded Boston University women's tennis team advanced to the Patriot League semifinal match with an efficient 4-0 win over Holy Cross on Friday morning.
BU went right to work in doubles, with seniors Emily Zhao and Rhea Rai winning 6-0 at line three to set BU up for the doubles point. Sophomore Madison Liu and junior Blanka DeMicheli clinched the doubles point with a 6-1 win at line two to give BU a 1-0 advantage headed into singles.
The Terriers quickly won matches at the Nos. 1, 5 and 6 spots. Freshman Vasilisa Borisova's 6-0, 6-0 win at line six was backed by sophomore Gabriella Mikaul who posted a dominant 6-0, 6-0 win at the top of the lineup. Zhao clinched the 4-0 victory for the Terriers with a 6-0, 6-1 win at the No. 5 spot to help them advance to the semifinal match.
BU will face the winner of No. 4 Lehigh and No. 5 Loyola Maryland in the semifinals on Saturday (April 18). First serve is set for 10 a.m.
