BOSTON—The Boston University women’s basketball team hosts Colgate on Wednesday night in Case Gym and looks to win back-to-back home contests against the Raiders. Tip off is set for 7 p.m. and will be aired live on the Patriot League Network.
QUICK HITS
-BU won its first game of the season last Wednesday, defeating American, 63-59. The Terriers did not trail the Eagles at any point during the contest to break a 22-game program losing streak.
-Kara Sheftic had a career night at Navy, recording personal bests in points (20) and rebounds (12) to reach her first career double-double. She is averaging a team-high 13.3 ppg in conference play.
-Sarah Hope matched the school single-game record in 3-pointers made with 7 against URI. The junior is ranked eighth all-time at BU in career three’s with 145.
-Meghan Green had a break-out game against Marist, scoring 22 points. She leads the team with 11.1 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
-BU enters its 3rd season in the Patriot League and 2nd under the command of head coach Katy Steding.
-BU returns nine players from the 2014-15 season and added five during the off-season.
-The captains are Clodagh Scannell, Courtney Latham, Sarah Hope and Corrine Williams.
-Six players who started 12 or more games return for the 2015-16 season.
LAST TIME OUT
-Despite a solid offensive performance, the Terriers dropped a 63-54 decision at Loyola Maryland on Saturday.
-Meghan Green led the team with 19 points and 11 rebounds, her second double-double of the season.
-As a team, BU outshot the Greyhounds, going 44.4 percent from the field (24-for-54) while Loyola finished 36.7 percent overall (22-for-60). Both teams hit six three-pointers.
-The differential in the game was free throw shooting, as the Greyhounds went 13-for-16 from the charity stripe while the Terriers weren’t given any chances at the line.
A TERRIER WIN WOULD...
-Mark consecutive home wins for the first time since Nov. 22, 2014 against Vermont.
-Tie the number of conference wins from last season with two.
-End a two-game series skid with Colgate.
THE SERIES
-BU leads the series, 7-4, but the Raiders have won the last two contests.
-The last time the pair met was in the 2015 Patriot League Tournament First Round, which Colgate won, 58-48.
-The Terriers are undefeated against the Raiders at home, going 4-0 in Case Gym.
THE TERRIERS
-After starting the season on a 15-game skid, BU won its first game of the season on Wednesday against American.
-Kara Sheftic has been on a tear as of late, recording double-digit points in four of the last five contests. Her improvement came just in time for conference play, as she is averaging 13.3 points in PL games this season.
-After missing a game due to injury for the first time in her career, Meghan Green returned against Marist and led the team with 22 points, one shy of her career high. Since then she has had five more games in double-digit scoring and currently leads the team with 11.1 ppg and 5.9 rpg.
-Sarah Hope has been outstanding from long-range as of late, matching her career-high with six three’s against UMass Lowell and then beating her personal best and matching the school record with seven against Rhode Island. The junior also went a perfect 5-of-5 from long range against Lehigh and averages 8.7 points per game.
-BU returns nine players from the 2014-15 season and adds five newcomers to this year’s squad.
THE RAIDERS
-Colgate is 3-13 on the season and has just one conference win, defeating Lafayette 72-59. The Raiders are currently on a five-game losing streak, all against conference opponents.
-Josie Stockill leads the team with 12.1 points per game and is second on the team in rebounding, averaging 6.9 per game.
-Paige Kriftcher is also averaging double-digits this season with 11.6 ppg while Randyll Butler leads the team in rebounding and assists, averaging 8.2 rpg and 4.5 apg.
-As a team, the Raiders have the worst scoring defense in the league, allowing 69.4 points per game. They are also the worst shooting team in the conference, going 33.9 percent from the field.
-Colgate leads the league in blocked shots, however, averaging 6.8 per game.
