HOW IT HAPPENED
- Freshman Kieffer Bellows tied the game at 1-1 with his first collegiate goal 43 seconds into the third period but Henrik Borgstrom scored his second goal of the contest with 9:37 left in regulation to lift the Pioneers to the weekend sweep.
- Both of those goals came on the power play and Denver added an empty-netter from Tyson McLellan with 25 seconds left to create the 3-1 final.
- The Terriers put together a strong effort in the first period, limiting the home team to just three shots and creating a handful of good chances, but were unable to strike first.
- Bergstrom opened the scoring on a tough-angle shot from the foot of the left circle that eluded BU goaltender Jake Oettinger 1:37 into the middle period.
- Sophomore Charlie McAvoy and freshman Patrick Harper assisted on Bellows' tally, which came from the far side of the right circle. The freshman spun around and fired a shot that went off the far post and in.
- Backstroke's winner came off a rush as the freshman took a pass from Troy Terry and backhanded a shot over Oettinger's left shoulder.
- Oettinger tallied 20 saves for the Terriers while Tanner Jaillet picked up the win in goal with a 24-save performance.
GAME NOTES
