The Boston University women's basketball team dropped its final regular season game of the season to Army West Point on Wednesday night, 79-44, in Case Gym.
The Terriers (3-26, 3-15 PL) will head to American for the Patriot League Tournament First Round on Saturday while the Black Knights (26-2, 17-1 PL) earn a bye into the quarterfinal round.
BU was led by Troi Melton, who scored 13 points, while Corrine Williams tallied 11 points on the night. Kelsey Minato led Army with 32 points, breaking the Patriot League all-time scoring record along the way.
The Black Knights shot 51.9 percent (28-of-54) from the field and went 10-for-20 from beyond the arc while BU finished 37.5 percent overall. Both teams capitalized on turnovers but Army outscored BU, 32-20, off of miscues. Both teams finished with 27 turnovers and 13 steals.
BU found most of its success in the paint, scoring 30 of its 44 points in the red. Army worked well inside and out, scoring 36 points in the paint and 30 beyond the arc.
The pair began the game neck-and-neck but the Black Knights began to pull ahead toward the end of the first quarter. Army then outscored BU, 24-10, throughout the second period to go into halftime with a commanding lead that it would not lose.
BU limited Army's output throughout the second half but struggled to score on its offensive end and couldn't make up for the deficit.
