
Terriers Triumph at Colgate, 4-3

HAMILTON, N.Y. - With the final point up for grabs, senior Stefan Lemire won a three-set thriller to help lead the Boston University men's tennis team to a 4-3 victory at Colgate.
With their third one-point win of the season, the Terriers improve to 7-9 (2-0 PL), while the Raiders fall to 11-4 (1-1 PL) after suffering their first home loss of the year.
BU won two of the three doubles matches to claim the first point and then captured three singles points, including two in straight sets, to defeat Colgate.
After the Raiders won the top doubles match, 6-1, Lemire and junior Miguel Cepeda edged Colgate, 6-3, at line 3. Juniors Jake De Vries and Jay Leelavanich then posted a 6-4 victory for the early 1-0 lead.
Colgate took the lead by defeating sjunior Jake De Vries (#5) and Jay Leelavanich (#1) in singles action, but the Terriers bounced back with straight-set wins by junior Lucas Bombonatti (#3) and freshman Satyajit Simhadri (#4). The Raiders followed by tying the score, 3-3, on a three-set victory at line 6 against freshman Jeff Chan.
Lemire dropped his first set in a tiebreaker but quickly bounced back for the 6-7(8), 6-2, 6-4 win in the No. 2 slot.
The Terriers will next visit Bryant on Saturday (April 2) for a 9 a.m. match against Bryant and 3 p.m. start time against the Bulldogs.
