SAN DIEGO -
After five scoreless innings, San Diego State hit a two-run homer to outlast the Boston University softball team, 2-0, on Wednesday night at the SDSU Softball Stadium.

2015 NFCA All-Region First Team honoree Erica Romero (7-2) limited the Terriers (4-9) to four hits with three strikeouts against one walk to help the Aztecs improve to 12-7.

Senior Lauren Hynes (3-4) was on the other side of the pitchers' duel, allowing just three hits with four stirkeouts and two walks. She broke up Romero's no-hit bid with a two-out single in the top of the fifth but later allowed the two-run blast in the sixth with one out after BU had a defensive error.

BU's best opportunity to score came in the top of the sixth. Freshman Emily Morrow led off with a single to left and took second on a sacrifice bunt. Junior Moriah Connolly followed with a double down the left field line, but the Aztecs managed to claim a double play by getting the tag on Morrow at home and then Connolly at third.

In the bottom half, SDSU's first batter got on base by way of error. 2015 Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year Jenavee Peres, who earlier struck out for just the second and third time of the season, then made the Terriers pay with a two-run blast on an 0-1 pitch to center for what proved to be the game-winning play.

Sophomore Emma Wong tried to mount a rally with a lead-off single, but Romero got three straight outs against the middle of BU's lineup for the victory.

The Terriers will next visit Loyola Marymount on Thursday (March 10) with the doubleheader slated to begin at 3 p.m. ET.
