The Boston University women's ice hockey team will host Vermont in a weekend series at Walter Brown Arena. The teams will begin the two-game set on Saturday (3 p.m.) before taking the ice again on Sunday (3 p.m.).

Saturday is Youth Hockey Day at Walter Brown. Any team that registers at GoTerriers.com/YouthDay will receive free admission. There will also be a postgame autograph session for all fans.

BU (12-8-2, 7-7-1 WHEA) and Vermont (10-7-5, 6-3-3 WHEA) are both tied for third in the Hockey East standings with 15 points, though the Catamounts have three games in hand on the Terriers. Vermont won the first meeting this season, defeating BU at home, 3-2, thanks to a third-period goal that broke a 2-2 tie. Overall, BU owns a 28-7-4 record against Vermont, including a 17-2-2 mark at Walter Brown.

The Terriers are looking to get back on track following a 2-1 loss at UConn on Tuesday. The Terriers boast the fifth-ranked offense in the nation but have been held to a single goal in back-to-back contests. Their team defense, particularly in league games, has improved mightily however. In the Terriers' last five games against Hockey East competition, opponents are averaging a mere 1.2 goals per game.

Graduate student Mary Parker collected an assist on Tuesday to move into sole possession of first place on the team leaderboard with 27 points. That total is also good for third in the conference. She also ranks second in the NCAA with 17 goals. Junior Victoria Bach is second behind Parker with 26 points. Bach has been brilliant in her career against Vermont, as she second among all current Terriers with 14 points (6g, 8a) against the Catamounts. Senior Samantha Sutherland has tallied eight goals against UVM, including two in this past October's showdown.

Vermont is 6-1-1 since Dec. 3, including a sweep of Maine this past weekend. Sophomore Alyssa Gorecki leads the Catamounts with 15 points. Senior Bridget Baker is the team's top goal scorer (9g) and is one of five players with at least 10 points. Sophomore Saana Valkama is the only UVM skater who has reached double digits in assists, entering the weekend with 10.

Senior goaltender Madison Litchfield is 5-2-3 in 10 starts, posting a .942 save percentage and a 1.48 goals-against average.

Following this weekend's series, the Terriers will continue league play with a home-and-home series against Providence that begins on Saturday, Jan. 21.
