BOSTON – Continuing a five-match homestand, the Boston University men's tennis team dropped a hard-fought 4-3 decision to Quinnipiac on Sunday afternoon at the Track & Tennis Center.

MATCH NOTES

Quinnipiac jumped out to a 1-0 lead by winning two of the three doubles matches and then claimed three singles points, including two in straight sets, for the team win.
Senior Jay Leelavanich and freshman J.P. Avila won the first doubles contest at line 3 by a score of 6-3, but the Bobcats posted a winning score of 6-4 at line 1 and 6-3 in the No. 2 slot for the first point.
Freshman Marc Sable quickly tied the score at 1-1 after he won the first set at line 2 in singles and his opponent retired due to injury.
The Bobcats though won the next three points for the team win, including 6-3, 6-3 victory over Leelavanich at No. 3 and 7-5, 7-5 win over senior Jake De Vries at No. 4.
After losing a tough No. 1 doubles match, Simhadri dropped the first set at No. 1 singles and then rallied to force a third before falling, 6-3, 1-6, 6-4.
BU won the final two points with senior Mario Sandoval rolling to a 6-3, 6-3 win at line 5 and Avila holding off a late charge in the No. 6 slot for 6-3, 4-6, 10-3 win.

NEXT UP

The Terriers will next host Bryant on Sunday, Feb. 5, at 11 a.m.
BU will face the Bulldogs for the first time since falling on the road in 2014 by a score of 6-1.
