Terriers Defeated at Maine, 4-2

ORONO, Maine - Freshman Nara Elia and senior Victoria Bach each scored their second goal of the season, but the Boston University women's ice hockey team dropped a 4-2 decision at Maine on Friday afternoon at Alfond Arena.
GOAL-BY-GOAL
- Maine opened the scoring at the 13:49 mark of the opening period and then added another goal less than a minute later to take a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes.
- The Black Bears made it 3-0 at the 7:35 juncture of the second stanza thanks to a redirection past senior goaltender Erin O'Neil (31 saves).
- Elia got a goal back for BU with 8:32 left in the middle frame. Freshman Kristina Schuler won a faceoff back to Elia in the left circle. She quickly skated the puck to the middle of the zone and uncorked a wrist shot past Carly Jackson (17 saves).
- Bach made it a one-goal game at the 7:18 mark of the third period. She picked up a loose puck in the neutral zone and skated past four Maine defenders before roofing a backhander past Jackson.
- The Black Bears added an empty-netter in the final minute to secure the 4-2 scoreline.
ELIA AND SCHULER COMBINE FOR ANOTHER GOAL
- This was the second game this season in which Schuler and Elia combined for a goal.
- Schuler supplied the primary assist on Elia's first collegiate goal, which came on Oct. 6 against Northeastern.
- Elia now has two points this season (1g, 1a) while Schuler is tied with Bach for the team lead in points with three (1g, 2a).
BACH ON A ROLL
- Bach now has a goal in each of her last two games.
- She has secured a point in three of the Terriers' four games this season.
BACK HOME SUNDAY
- The Terriers will return to Boston for a Sunday afternoon showdown with UConn on Oct. 22 at Walter Brown Arena.
- Puck drop for the "Pumpkin Classic" is scheduled for 3 p.m.
- Fans in a Halloween costume will be entered to win prizes at the gate.
