BOSTON - Junior Courtney Breiner of the Boston University women's cross country team was selected to the Academic All-Patriot League Team on Friday afternoon.
This is Breiner's second straight appearance on an Academic All-Patriot League Team. She also received this honor last year in her first season of eligibility.
Breiner maintained a 3.81 grade-point average while majoring in psychology. In addition to her success in the classroom, Breiner also persevered through injury to have a strong season of competition as well. She led the Terriers with a 19th-place performance at the Patriot League Championship on Oct. 28, and also had a top-20 finish at the Paul Short Run, finishing 14th with a time of 21:56. Breiner also raced at NCAA Pre-Nationals, posting a time of 23:17.0 in an elite field.
To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
BU will conclude its 2017 season on Friday, Nov. 10, at the NCAA Northeast Regional in Buffalo, New York.
