CLOSE PROXIMITY, CLOSE GAMES
- Seven of the last eight meetings between BU and BC have been decided by two goals or fewer, including this year's first meeting.
LAST TIME AGAINST THE EAGLES
- BU outshot BC, 46-18, but the Eagles escaped Walter Brown Arena with a 4-3 win on Oct. 28.
- The Terriers scored two extra-attacker goals in the third period to cut a 4-1 deficit to 4-3, but BC held on for the win.
- Senior captain Rebecca Leslie notched two goals and an assist while classmate Victoria Bach added two assists.
- Junior Mary Grace Kelley also lit the lamp.
- Senior Erin O'Neil made 14 saves.
HISTORY WITH THE EAGLES
- Friday is the 50th all-time meeting between BU and BC.
- The Terriers are 17-26-6 all-time against the Eagles, including a 7-11-3 record at Conte Forum and a 7-12-2 record at Walter Brown.
- The teams split last year's Hockey East series, with both squads earning a 5-3 home victory before settling for a 1-1 tie at BC on Jan. 7.
- BC escaped with a 3-2 win in the opening round of last year's Beanpot to take the overall 2016-17 series.
BEST OF BU AGAINST BC
- Rebecca Leslie leads BU with six assists and eight points against BC.
- Nina Rodgers' four goals against the Eagles are best among current Terriers.
- Victoria Bach has tallied six points (2g, 4a) while Deziray De Sousa (1g, 1a) and Abby Cook (2a) also have multiple points against the Eagles.
- Mary Grace Kelley has also lit the lamp against BC.
- Jesse Compher, Reagan Rust and Natasza Tarnowski each have one helper against BC.
EYEING THE EAGLES
- BC is 4-0-1 in its last five games, including a 7-3 home win on Tuesday against Northeastern.
- The Eagles have not lost since Nov. 10 at St. Lawrence, which is their only blemish of the year.
- Sophomore Caitrin Lonergan leads the NCAA with 18 goals and is second in the country with 38 points.
- Freshman Daryl Watts leads the NCAA in assists (23) and points (40).
- Senior goaltender Katie Burt has started all 15 games, posting a .921 save percentage and a 2.25 goals-against average.
LOTS OF OFFENSE THIS WEEKEND
- This weekend's BU-BC series features the four top scorers in the country.
- The Eagles' Daryl Watts (40 points) and Caitrin Lonergan (38 points) lead the way, with Terrier seniors Victoria Bach (31) and Rebecca Leslie (27) third and fourth, respectively.
- Bach has 17 goals, behind only Lonergan for most among NCAA skaters.
- In addition, Bach has generated a nation-high 98 shots on goal and is second in average shots on goal (6.53).
CAN BACH BE STOPPED?
- Senior Victoria Bach has been unstoppable over her last five games.
- In that span she has tallied an NCAA-best 12 goals and added five assists for a nation-high 17 points.
- Since Nov. 17, Bach has outscored 39 Division I men's teams and 26 Division I women's teams.
- Bach is currently on a six-game point streak (12g, 6a) and has recorded a goal in each of her last five tilts.
- On the season, Bach is second in the country with 17 goals and third in the NCAA with 31 points.
MORE ON BACH'S AMAZING YEAR
- An NCAA-best 14 of Victoria Bach's 17 goals have come at even strength.
- She has been held without a point just twice this season.
- Bach is also one of just two players in the entire nation, male or female, to average over six shots on goal per game.
LESLIE CONTINUES TO SHINE
- One reason for Victoria Bach's recent success has been the impressive play of her linemate, senior captain Rebecca Leslie.
- Leslie notched four points in Tuesday's win thanks to two goals and two assists, her third consecutive contest with at least two helpers.
- Over the last five games, Leslie has had the primary assist on nine of Bach's 12 goals, and dating back to Oct. 22, Leslie has had the primary assist on all but three of Bach's 15 markers.
- She has tallied 16 points (6g, 10a) during her current six-game point streak and has notched a point in 10 of her last 11 games (12g, 15a).
- In November, Leslie led the NCAA with 12 assists and was tied for third with 19 points (7g, 12a).
- Overall, Leslie is tied for fourth in the nation with 27 points and is tied for seventh in the country with 15 assists.
NEXT UP
- BU will begin a home-and-home series against No. 2 Boston College on Friday in Chestnut Hill.
- The Terriers will then welcome the Eagles to Walter Brown on Saturday at 3 p.m.
