February 21, 2017 | Men's Tennis
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- After helping lead the Boston University men's tennis team to a 5-2 victory over 2016 Patriot League runner-up Navy from the top singles and doubles positions, senior Lucas Bombonatti has been named the Corvias PL Player of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Recognized for the second time this season, Bombonatti helped the Terriers defeat Navy for the first time since joining the League on Saturday, 5-2. The senior opened the match teaming with sophomore Satyajit Simhadri for a 6-4 win over the Midshipmen's top doubles pair, 6-1, and then carried the momentum to No. 1 singles to beat Thomas Pecor, a 2016 second-team All-League selection, in straight sets, 6-2, 7-6(2).
Before playing Navy, he came up just short on Friday to Boston College's top doubles and singles flights, falling 6-4 at doubles and in three sets in singles 2-6, 7-5, 4-6.
