BEALLSVILLE, Md. - Junior Phyllis Tang hit a hole-in-one during Tuesday's final round of the Hoya Invitational, a 54-hole event that began Monday afternoon at Four Streams Golf Club.
Tang's hole-in-one, the first of her collegiate career, came on the 165-yard 10th hole. She used a 7-iron to become the second Terrier in three years to accomplish that feat; Emily Tillo hit a hole-in-one at the 2015 Kiawah Island Classic.
Tang's ace was the highlight of the week for the Terriers, who finished eighth in the 15-team field with a score of 926 (310-307-309). Senior Adela Cejnarova led BU with a score of 226 (71-73-82), good for a tie for 13th. That score included a one-under 71 in the opening round, with Cejnarova sitting at even par for the tournament after Monday.
Freshman Abby Parsons tied for 35th with a total of 235 (84-78-73), highlighted by a final-round 73. Tang tied for 40th (77-76-83), one stroke back of Parsons. Sophomore Megan Carter tallied a pair of 78s en route to a score of 237 (78-81-78) while freshman Zhangcheng Guo carded a 241 (85-80-76).
BU will travel to Yale to face the Bulldogs along with Quinnipiac on Sunday, April 16, as a final tune-up for the Patriot League Championship (April 22-23).
