The Boston University golf team will look to win its second conference title in three years when the Terriers tee off at the 2017 Patriot League Championship this weekend at Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
The Terriers will play 36 holes on Saturday, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Sunday's final round will also start at 8:30 a.m. Par is 72 at the 6,012-yard course that last hosted the conference championship in 2014.
Senior Adela Cejnarova has a chance to become the first golfer, male or female, to win three straight individual titles at the Patriot League Championship. She cruised to her second straight victory at last year's event, winning by seven shots with a tournament-record score of 219.
BU, the 2015 Patriot League champion, finished second last year by six strokes to Richmond despite a final-round score of 299. The Terriers were the only team that broke 300 in any round last year. They went lower than 300 three times this spring, including twice at the Babs Steffens Invitational in March. BU has also broken its 54-hole program record on two different occasions this year, most recently with an 896 at the Harvard Invitational (April 1-2).
Three Terriers - freshmen Zhangcheng Guo, Saeros Oskarsdottir and Abby Parsons - will be making their conference tournament debuts this weekend. Sophomore Megan Carter enters the tournament having finished tied for seventh as a rookie last year. Junior Phyllis Tang tied for 11th last year and finished fifth as a freshman when BU won the title in 2015.
If BU secures the conference title on Sunday, the Terriers will qualify for an NCAA Regional that will take place May 8-10 at one of four sites.
