BOSTON - The Boston University women's rowing team continued its spring season on Saturday morning, sending out four boats to take on Michigan State, Northeastern and UMass.

The Terriers' varsity eight boat finished fourth in its race behind winner Michigan State while Northeastern finished second and UMass came in third. By finishing behind Northeastern in the 1V race, BU also lost the annual Council Cup competition.

BU will race again on Sunday, heading to Shrewsbury, Mass. to take on Patriot League foes Holy Cross and Bucknell beginning at 9:00 a.m.

This full weekend of racing will serve as the Terriers' final tune-up before the Women's Eastern Sprints on April 30th.

HOW IT HAPPENED - Saturday

In the varsity eight race, the BU V8 boat finished fourth with a time of 6:48.93. The 1V, coxed by Marlaina Miller and stroked by Annalise Routenberg, finished in back of winner Michigan State (6:25.61), Northeastern (6:25.94) and UMass (6:41.01).
In the second varsity eight race, BU also finished fourth. The 2V, coxed by Erin Gannon and stroked by Kelsey Farmer, finished with a time of 7:00.09, behind winner Northeastern (6:42.68), Michigan State (6:43.73) and UMass (6:59.62).
In the first race of the day, the BU 4A also finished fourth behind Michigan State, Northeastern and UMass.
In the final race of the day, the 4B finished third, ahead of UMass but behind winner Michigan State and Northeastern.
BU will head to Shrewsbury, Mass. to take on Holy Cross and Bucknell beginning at 9:00 am on Sunday.
