The Boston University women's openweight rowing team will race at the 44th annual EAWRC Sprints Championships on Sunday in Worcester, Mass. The Terriers will send out four boats to the prestigious competition on Lake Quinsigamond with racing beginning at 7:50 a.m.
The first race of the day for BU will be the varsity four "B" heat race at 7:50 a.m. against Boston College and Harvard. The varsity four "A" will race next at 8:40 a.m. against Columbia, Boston College, and Holy Cross, with the top 2 boats advancing to the grand final later in the afternoon.
BU's second varsity eight boat will race in its heat at 8:40 a.m. against Northeastern, BC, and UConn with the top two boats advancing to the grand finals.
Beginning at 9:30 a.m., varsity eight boats will be broken into three heats also with the top two boats in each race advancing to the grand final. The BU V8 will face off against crews from Harvard, BC, and Holy Cross.
Last year, the BU openweight varsity eight boat won the petite final and the second varsity eight boat advanced to the grand finals and finished sixth overall.
After competing in the Sprints this weekend, the BU openweights will next compete at the Patriot League Championships on May 12, also in Worcester where the Terriers will look for a conference championship and an automatic bid to the NCAAs in West Windsor, NJ beginning on May 26.
