BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Resuming Patriot League action, the Boston University men's tennis team fell at Lehigh, 4-1, on Friday evening with the Mountain Hawks coming out on top in three three-set singles matches.

MATCH NOTES

It was a hard-fought match for the second consecutive year after BU escaped with a 4-1 win last year in a contest that required a tiebreaker to decide doubles and the Terriers to win two singles points in three sets ... In this go-round, the Mountain Hawks claimed one extra break in two doubles matches for the first point and then pulled out three three-set singles victories.
Winning its third-straight Patriot League contest, Lehigh claimed 6-4 wins at No. 1 and 3 doubles, as seniors Mario Sandoval and Jake De Vries led, 5-3, in the No. 2 slot with their match was called.
Senior Lucas Bombonatti rebounded from the No. 1 doubles loss with a 6-4, 6-3 victory at line 1 in singles ... He was the only player to complete a singles match in straight sets.
Sandoval (#4) and senior Jay Leelavanich (#2) both rallied from a set down to force a third in their respective match but came up short ... Sandoval lost a first-set tiebreaker in a hard-fought 7-6(3), 2-6, 7-5 loss.
Sophomore Satyajit Simhadri won the first set at line 3, but Jack Martin-Dyer rallied for a 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 victory over the Terriers.

NEXT UP

Trying to remain in position for a top-two seed for the upcoming Patriot League tournament, BU will remain in Bethlehem and face the defending conference champions Army West Point on Saturday (April 8) at 10 a.m.
Army won last year's matchup, 4-1, at West Point.
