BOSTON - Paced by top-10 finishes from sophomore Paul Luevano and junior Alexander Seal, the Boston University men's cross country team finished fifth at the Battle of Beantown on Friday afternoon at Franklin Park.
Luevano and Seal were 1-2 through the first 5K in 15:37 and 15:38, respectively, before Luevano (24:25) eventually finished seventh and Seal (24:30) eventually took ninth in the 8K race. This is the second straight event in which the dynamic duo has placed in the top 10; Luevano and Seal were second and third, respectively, at the season-opening Minuteman Invitational.
As a team, the Terriers totaled 131 points, well ahead of sixth-place UMass Lowell (166). Syracuse won the team title with 35 points. All five Terrier scorers finished in the top 45, and the Terriers were one of just three teams to have multiple harriers in the top 10.
Sophomore Brett Davidson (25:06) crossed the finish line in 34th place, followed by junior Johnny Kemps (25:12) in 39th. Senior Cullin Burdett (25:19) was not far behind them in 45th. Sophomores Greg Pelose (25:39) and Zachary Prescott (25:54) finished 70th and 89th, respectively. Junior Liam O'Connell (26:30), along with freshmen Scotti Hamilton (26:36) and Logan Broedner (27:01) rounded out the Terrier contingent.

"The men did a solid job today," head coach Paul Spangler said."Paul and Alex mixed it up with the best in the country and came away with huge personal bests on a sloppy course. We need to work on closing down the time spread between our No. 1 and No. 5 runners; that's going to be key for us later in the season. All of our men ran lifetime bests so I can't complain too much."
BU will return to competition next Friday, Sept. 29, when the Terriers travel to Lehigh for the Paul Short Run.Players Mentioned
