The Boston University women's ice hockey team will head to North Andover, Massachusetts, on Thursday night to face Merrimack. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
LAST TIME AGAINST MERRIMACK
- In the first Hockey East game of the 2017-18 season, Merrimack earned a 2-1 win at Walter Brown Arena on Sept. 23.
- Junior Reagan Rust opened the scoring for BU with a power-play goal at 11:30 of the first period.
- Senior Victoria Bach and sophomore Abby Cook each assisted on Rust's goal.
- Both Merrimack goals came on the power play, as the Warriors tied the game at 9:09 of the second period and then grabbed a lead with just 51 seconds left in that period.
- Senior Erin O'Neil made 30 saves for the Terriers while the Warriors' Samantha Ridgewell stopped 31 shots.
HISTORY WITH THE WARRIORS
- After winning their first five fixtures against Merrimack, BU has lost each of the last two meetings with the Warriors.
- BU is 2-1-0 when facing the Warriors at Lawler Rink, including a 4-1 loss last year.
- The Terriers are 3-2-0 all-time at Lawler Rink, as they won a Hockey East semifinal contest there in 2016 before losing in the title game.
BEST OF BU AGAINST MERRIMACK
- Victoria Bach has been terrific against Merrimack, scoring at least one point in all seven games against the Warriors.
- In total, she leads BU with six goals, six assists and 12 points against Merrimack.
- Rebecca Leslie is next with three goals and two assists for five points.
- Savannah Newton and Abby Cook also have two assists apiece against Merrimack.
- Breanna Scarpaci has notched a goal and an assist against Merrimack, while Deziray De Sousa and Reagan Rust have both lit the lamp against the Warriors.
- Erin O'Neil is 2-1 in her career against Merrimack, allowing just two goals in each of those starts.
- Both wins came during the 2015-16 campaign, with the one loss coming back in September at Walter Brown.
THE MACK ATTACK IS BACK
- Merrimack enters Thursday after splitting a weekend series at Maine.
- The Warriors took the final game of the weekend with a 4-2 win on Saturday.
- Junior Katelyn Rae notched four goals on Saturday which extended her goal streak to six games and her point streak to nine games.
- She has tallied 11 goals during that six-game stretch and has notched 15 points (13g, 2a) during her nine-game point streak.
- Rae has 23 points (18g, 5a) to lead Merrimack, with sophomore Mikyla Grant-Mentis (9g, 6a) the only other Warrior with at least 10 points.
- Junior Samantha Ridgewell has started 16 of the 18 games in which she has appeared, posting a 6-9-1 record with a .928 save percentage and a 2.20 goals-against average.
WORKING OVERTIME
- BU played its eighth overtime game of the season on Sunday.
- This is the second straight season that the Terriers have required overtime on eight different occasions.
- BU is 0-2-6 when forced to play overtime this season.
- The Terriers played in an NCAA-record 15 overtime contests during the 2009-10 campaign, with their 12 ties that year also an NCAA record.
WHEN PK IS ON, BU IS ON
- The Terriers are 7-for-7 on the penalty kill over the last two games.
- In each of their last three games in which they secured at least a point, the BU penalty kill is a perfect 13-of-13.
- Over the last four games, the Terriers' one loss in that stretch was when Providence went 2-for-4 on the power play.
