ANNAPOLIS, Md. - In a thrilling Patriot League opener with four singles matches requiring three sets, the Boston University men's tennis team triumphed at Navy, 4-3, on Sunday afternoon. Sophomore Marc Sable clinched the final point up for grabs with a 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 victory at line 6.

Winning three of the four three-set matches, the Terriers improve to 8-9 (1-0 PL), while the 2017 PL tournament runner-up Midshipmen fall to 17-9 (0-1 PL).

HOW IT HAPPENED

Navy won all three doubles matches by a combined score of 18-10 to claim the first point.
Andrew Ton earned a 6-3, 6-0 win at line 1 to extend Navy's lead to 2-0.
Freshman Owen Lu put BU on the board with a 6-4, 7-5 victory in the No. 2 slot against the reigning PL Rookie of the Year Zach Jennings.
Freshman Ethan Kolsky then edged Navy's Peter Lohrbach at line 5 in the second-set tiebreaker to rally for a 3-6, 7-6(4), 6-3 victory.
BU took the lead, 3-2, after freshman David Bogatin rallied for a 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 victory in the No. 3 slot against Aries Wong.
Navy's Gabriel Pilones though tied it up by rallying at line 4 for the 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory.
Romesh Kahatapitiya tried to duplicate Pilones' effort, but Sable held tough in a hostile environment to clinch the final point.

NEXT UP: FORDHAM

BU will next head to Fordham on Saturday (March 31) for a 12 p.m. start.
The Rams won the last meeting in 2012 at the Track & Tennis Center, 5-2.
