BOSTON – Riding a 12-game win streak, the Boston University softball team will continue its seven-game homestand against regional rival Providence on Tuesday afternoon with first pitch set for 4 p.m.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU is 7-2 at home with a 2-1 record against non-conference opponents ... The Terriers swept Central Connecticut State and dropped a 1-0 decision to Boston College.
  • Highlighted by a 4-3 victory over then-No. 1 Oklahoma, the Terriers are 20-15 this season against non-conference opponents ... They are 0-1 against the Big East this season with a 4-3 loss at St. John's.
  • BU's win streak is the longest since the Terriers won 13 straight in 2014 ... The streak is tied with Fordham for the third longest in the nation, behind Michigan (15), Hofstra (16) and Drake (21).
  • The Terriers rank 57th nationally with a Patriot League high .292 batting average and are holding opponents to a .247 average ... Opponents have nearly doubled BU in errors, 83-42.
  • Junior Alex Heinen (.360 avg.) ranks 45th with 58 hits while posting a team-high 38 RBIs ... She is one of three with three homers apiece alongside classmates Madi Killebrew (.327 avg.) and Alexa Ponce (.237 avg.).
  • BU ranks first in triples per game at 0.53 ... Senior Brittany Younan (.286 avg.) leads the NCAA with nine triples with junior Jilee Schanda (.327 avg.) close behind at seven.
  • The reigning PL Player of the Week Schanda has been on a tear in the month of April, hitting .500 with five doubles, four triples, a homer and 13 RBIs in 14 games.
  • Schanda ranks 12 nationally in the toughest to strike out with just one every 31.4 at-bats, while junior Emily Morrow (.275 avg.) currently sits at 23rd (26.2 at-bats).
  • A three-time PL Rookie of the Week and now a two-time PL Pitcher of the Week, freshman Ali DuBois (22-6, 1.91 ERA) ranks third in the NCAA with 22 wins and is 56th with 153 strikeouts in 176.1 innings.
  • Sophomore Kali Magane (3-1, 3.67 ERA) is second on the team in April with five appearances and owns 15 strikeouts in 12.2 innings with two wins ... Both freshman Cali Dolfi (4-7, 2.61 ERA) and sophomore Lizzie Annerino (1-3, 2.97 ERA) have made three appearances apiece in the month as well.
SCOUTING PROVIDENCE
  • The Friars are 2-2 in the last four games with a win at Butler (5-4, 0-2, 4-5) and home win over Brown (9-3).
  • They are 6-11 in true road games this season with other victories against Jacksonville, Creighton, Seton Hall and Bryant (2x).
  • Providence is batting .230 and holding opponents to .270 ... They are tied at 35 stolen bases apiece.
  • Julianne Rurka leads Providence at .348 with 10 doubles and 16 RBIs, while Emma Lee (.306 avg.) has 19 runs scored.
  • Brittny Veler (.297 avg.) owns a team-high .593 slugging percentage thanks to eight homers, seven doubles, two triples.
  • Both Christina Ramirez (5-11, 3.45 ERA) and Miranda Trinidad (3-9, 2.92 ERA) have gone the distance seven times apiece ... Megan McCune (3-6, 4.13 ERA) is holding batters to .243 average.
SERIES HISTORY
  • BU is 19-13-1 all-time in the series dating back to 1988.
  • In the last meeting in 2016, BU claimed a home 10-2 run-rule victory with Heinen producing a three-RBI double and three-run homer.
  • The Terriers are 5-0-1 in the last six meetings with Providence last winning in Rhode Island in 2009.
  • BU has also won the last 10 home matchups with the Friars last winning in 1992.
