Men's Tennis Reigns Supreme at UConn Invitational

STORRS, Conn. – Highlighted by three singles flight titles and a victory in the Doubles A final, the Boston University men's tennis team opened the fall season in impressive fashion at the three-day UConn Invitational.
The Terriers combined for a 19-3 (.864) singles record and 7-3 (.700) doubles mark against competitors from the host Huskies, Fairfield, Holy Cross, Quinnipiac, Sacred Heart and Bentley.
Freshman Max Stehling was perfect for the weekend, first winning all four doubles matches to claim the top flight title alongside sophomore Owen Lu, and then advancing to the top singles flight final with three wins. Sophomore David Bogatin also won all three of his singles matches and ended up sharing the Flight A title with Stehling.
Both freshman Max Hartenstein (B flight) and junior J.P. Avila (D flight) posted perfect 4-0 records to win their respective singles titles. Sophomore Pedro Gutierrez advanced to the C Flight final before coming up just short to Quinnipiac's Hielke Moore.
The Terriers will next compete at the Binghamton Invitational on Friday, Sept. 21 - Sunday, Sept. 23.
