BOSTON - Closing out a four-game stint in Massachusetts, the Boston University women's basketball team will return home to host American in the nightcap of a Case Gym doubleheader on Wednesday, Jan. 23. The night cap against the Eagles is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. and can be seen live on the Patriot League Network.

DOUBLE TEAMED

  • Both the men's and women's basketball teams will be taking the floor at The Roof on Wednesday for a doubleheader against the Eagles.
  • The men's team will play at 5 p.m. in their rescheduled contest from Monday that was postponed due to the snowstorm.

TERRIER TIDBITS

  • Visiting Holy Cross for the first Turnpike Trophy matchup of the year on the hardwood Saturday afternoon at the Hart Center, BU erased a 15-point deficit in the second half, but Holy Cross pulled away down the stretch the hand the Terriers a 75-69 defeat.
  • Katie Nelson led the Terriers with 18 points, 11 of which came in the second half, and add in five assists.
  • Nia Irving tallied her second straight double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
  • Lauren Spearman and Payton Hauck also reached double figures with 14 and 13 points, respectively.
  • Riley Childs has emerged as the team's sixth man, averaging 5.4 and 5.9 rebounds off the bench.
  • After missing two games due to injury, Childs has returned to average 9.0 points and 6.3 rebounds over the last three games.
  • BU has heavily relied upon its starting five this season as Hauck, Irving, Nelson, Spearman and Thompson have accounted for 80.0 percent of the Terriers' minutes.
  • In Patriot League games, those five are responsible for 85.4 percent of the team's total minutes.
  • The Terriers have averaged 66.3 points per game at Case Gym and have won by an average margin of 10.2 points.

SCOUTING AMERICAN

  • The defending Patriot League Champions have won their last five straight games to bump their record to 9-8 overall and 5-1 in Patriot League games.
  • Emily Fisher was named the league's Rookie of the Week after putting up 14 points against Loyola and 15 versus Lehigh.
  • Kaitlyn Marenyi and Elina Koskimies are the primary scorers, as Marenyi is shooting 50.0 percent from the floor and averaging 13.4 points, while Koskimies leads the league in free throw percentage (92.5) and is second on the team in scoring (13.1).
  • Indeya Sanders is the primary ballhandler, ranking third in the league with 3.7 assists per game and is second with a 1.7 assist-to-turnover ratio.
  • On the glass, Cecily Carl leads the team with 5.3 rebounds per game, and Sanders is right behind at 5.2.
  • In conference games, American leads the league in scoring margin (13.2), field goal defense (32.4), and assists (16.8).

THE SERIES

  • American is 9-3 against the Terriers since BU joined the Patriot League.
  • The Eagles swept the season series last year, snapping a streak of two straight years that the Terriers had split the series.
  • Three of BU's four wins in the series have come at home.
