January 30, 2019 | Field Hockey
BOSTON - Liz Ryan, who was named to the 2019-20 U.S. U-21 National Team earlier this week, has joined the Boston University field hockey program as a transfer student.
Ryan spent the past two seasons at Albany and helped the Great Danes capture the 2018 America East title and earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament. A native of Hoosick Falls, New York, Ryan appeared in 37 games for Albany and will be eligible to play immediately with two remaining seasons of eligibility.
"We thrilled to have Liz join us," said head coach Sally Starr. "She is a really talented hockey player who loves the game and plays with a lot of passion and intensity. The team has welcomed her with open arms and she'll be a great addition to our program."
Ryan starred at Hoosick Falls High School and graduated as the all-time goals leader in Section II with 113. She led the Panthers to Section II Class C title in 2016 and was a top-100 player by MAX Field Hockey in 2017.
Ryan was selected to play in the 2018 Young Women's USA Field Hockey High Performance Tournament last summer and her play there earned her an invitation to USA Field Hockey's training camp in December.
She is enrolled in the College of Arts & Sciences and majoring in international relations.
