Field Hockey Celebrates 2025 Championship Season
April 6, 2026 | Field Hockey
The Boston University field hockey team kicked off April by gathering at The Stockyard to celebrate its 2025 Patriot League championship season and hand out the program's annual awards before honoring the graduating class.
Senior Caroline O'Brien was named the team's Most Valuable Player for 2025 after a standout season, highlighted by becoming the first player to record a hat trick in the Patriot League championship game. She led all PL players in goals (15) and points (37), which was the most by a Terrier in 18 years.
The Most Improved Player Award went to sophomore Shea Freda, an NFHCA Scholar of Distinction who impressed in her first year as a starter on the backline.
The Erin Prediger BUFHA Spirit Award was presented to senior Amalia Preece, who maintained her high levels of passion and spirit all season long despite being sidelined with an injury.
The coaching staff instituted a new award, the Daily Standard Award, to recognize a team member who consistently gives 100 percent both on and off the field. The inaugural recipient was senior co-captain Celia Nocivelli.
O'Brien, Preece, Nocivelli, Maddie Hudson, Natalie Epperson, Martu Coulo, Megan Wetzel and Alex Purcell were presented with framed jerseys and delivered senior farewell speeches to their teammates, coaches and support staff.
