Field Hockey Returns Home to Face Lehigh

BOSTON - After completing a three-game road stretch, the Boston University field hockey team returns home to face Lehigh in the Patriot League home opener on Saturday (Oct. 3). Game time is set for 1 p.m.
Saturday's contest will serve as the Terriers' annual Pride Game and fans will have an opportunity to receive BU pride decals at the marketing table upon entering the facility.Â
Fans are also encouraged to support BU Athlete Ally's essential items donation drive, supporting The Home for Little Wanderers, an organization that has several programs aiding LGBTQIA+ youth in Boston. Fans can bring brand-new and unopened cleaning products or hygiene products to donate at the marketing table. For a list of items, click here.

- The Terriers have won their past two games by a combined score of 12-3.Â
- BU won its Patriot League opener last Saturday, posting a 7-2 road win over Bucknell that was highlighted by a school record-tying four-goal performance from sophomore Lucy Johnson.
- Johnson was named Patriot League Forward of the Week while senior Nicole Lauro collected Midfielder of the Week honors after recording a goal and an assist against the Bison.
- Johnson, who has scored in six of nine games, is currently tied for third nationally in goals this season with 11 and has two assists for 24 points.
- Graduate student Caroline O'Brien, last season's top point producer in the PL, has added four goals and three assists.Â
- Senior Alex Purcell has 11 points on three goals and a team-best five assists while Maddie Hudson, who has missed three full seasons due to injury, has added 10 points on four goals and two assists.
- O'Brien and senior Nicole Lauro were named to the Preseason All-Patriot League Team and joined senior Olivia Hammer, senior Maggie Driscoll and sophomore Molly Driscoll on the 2026 NFHCA Collegiate Watchlist.
- Senior Sophie Ortyl and sophomore Anna Wilson have split time in goal this season, combining for a 2.59 goals-against average and a .643 save percentage.
- BU was selected to finish third in the Patriot League preseason poll behind American and Lafayette.
- Hudson and Maggie Driscoll are serving as co-captains for the 2026 season.
SCOUTING LEHIGH
- Lehigh won its season opener against LIU but has dropped its past seven contests, including a 4-0 home loss to Colgate in its most recent game on Sept. 26.
- Senior Gracen Brant and junior Kristina Johnson lead the team in points with four on two goals apiece.
- Junior Carly Smith has added three points on a goal and an assist.
- Senior Kate Burgess has started all eight games in goal and currently has a .752Â save percentage and a 3.80Â goals-against average.
- The Mountain Hawks were picked sixth in the Patriot League preseason poll.
SERIES HISTORY
- Saturday will mark the 15th all-time meeting between the two schools.
- BU is 10-4 against the Mountain Hawks, including a perfect 6-0 record at home.
- Last season, BU earned a 4-1 road win over Lehigh as Caroline O'Brien scored twice and Molly Driscoll and Nicole Lauro also notched a goal.
LOOKING AHEAD
- BU will stay home and take on Holy Cross on Friday, Oct. 9.
- The Turnpike Trophy game will start at 6 p.m. on New Balance Field.
