HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Terriers scored on the first shot of the game and took advantage of an American player out on a green card.
- Junior Lily Johnson drilled a long ball from one end to the other and found O'Brien, who dribbled around an American defender to the middle of the circle, where she created just enough space to execute a perfectly placed reverse-stick drive to the top left of the cage at the 10:29 mark.
- The Eagles did not record their first shot until they drew a penalty stroke 1:29 into the second quarter.Â
- Kaleigh Missimer converted the try as her attempt was just outside the reach of Wilson, creating a 1-1 score.
- Just over five minutes later, Missimer scored on her team's next shot at the end of a run of three straight corners to give the Eagles their first lead.
- The third quarter was a defensive battle that produced no shots on goal until the final minute, when Wilson made a stop to keep it a one-goal game.
- The BU press helped tie the game early in the fourth as Freda intercepted a pass in the midfield and dribbled to the dotted line before slipping a through ball to O'Brien, who redirected it in at the far post to make it 2-2 with 13:26 to play.
- The Terriers overcame a green card in the middle of the fourth but the Eagles were able to produce a late winner as Jordan Reicher was the beneficiary of a deflected ball and was wide open near the left post with 4:52 to play.
GAME NOTES
- American held an 8-4 advantage in shots for the game and BU scored on both of its shots on goal.
- The Eagles earned seven corners and did not allow any in their end.
