Schroeder Named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week

WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Junior Corinne Schroeder of the Boston University women's ice hockey team was named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Schroeder was sensational in a pair of Terrier victories this past weekend. She stopped all 38 shots she faced in a 1-0 triumph at UConn on Friday before making 27 saves, including 16 in a perfect third period, to lead BU to a 3-1 win at Maine on Sunday. Schroeder, who picked up her third career shutout on Friday, made 19 of her 65 saves on the penalty kill to hold her two opponents to a combined 0-for-8 performance on the power play.
No other goaltender who played at least 60 minutes this weekend posted a better save percentage (.985) or goals-against average (0.50) than Schroeder. The Elm Creek, Manitoba, native leads the NCAA with a .965 save percentage over four starts, while her 0.98 goals-against average is the second lowest mark in the country.
BU will return to action on Oct. 25 when the Terriers begin a two-game series at Penn State.
