Schroeder Selected as Hockey East Goaltender of the Month
November 1, 2019 | Women's Ice Hockey
WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Junior Corinne Schroeder of the Boston University women's ice hockey team has been named Hockey East Goaltender of the Month, the league announced on Friday.
Schroeder was arguably the best goaltender in the entire country during the first month of the season. Among goaltenders that have played at least three games, Schroeder (4-0-1) leads the NCAA in save percentage (.956) and is second in goals-against average (1.18), with that GAA leading Hockey East. She has yet to allow more than two goals in a single game this season, highlighted by a 38-save shutout at UConn on Oct. 18 to give BU a 1-0 victory.
Only three of the six goals Schroeder has allowed this year have been at even strength. She has been particularly strong in the third period, stopping 47 of the 48 shots she has faced in the final frame for a .979 save percentage, which ranks second in the country among goalies who have played at least three games.
This is the second time Schroeder has earned Goaltender of the Month honors from Hockey East. She received that recognition, along with National Goaltender of the Month accolades, in December 2018.
Schroeder and the ninth-ranked Terriers will host No. 4 Northeastern on Friday night at 7 p.m.
