BOSTON - Ready to tipoff Patriot League action as well as the new decade, the Boston University women's basketball team will travel to Lafayette for a Thursday night matchup on Jan. 2 at 6 p.m.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- Behind a career-high 29 points from Katie Nelson, BU coasted past Northeastern, 72-56, in its non-conference finale on Sunday.
- Nelson was on fire once again, connecting on 9-of-13 from the field, with six of those makes coming from 3-point range.
- The junior has been red-hot over the last two games, connecting on 17-for-25 (.680) from the floor and 13-for-19 (.684) from 3-point range.
- Nia Irving is just 27 points away from becoming the 23rd Terrier to reach the 1,000-career points milestone.
- Since entering the starting lineup, Maggie Pina is averaging 13.25 points per game.
- BU has been on fire over the past two games, shooting 50-for-97 (51.5) from the floor to go with a 25-of-43 (58.1) clip from beyond-the-arc.
- The Terriers have also been stellar on defense, holding the last two opponents to shoot just 44-of-122 (36.0) from the floor and hit on just 12-of-48 (25.0) from 3-point range.
- BU has won each of its last three Patriot League openers.
- Lafayette closed out its non-conference slate with a 65-58 defeat to UMBC on Sunday.
- The Leopards stand at 4-6 overall, with three of those wins coming at the Kirby Sports Center.
- Natalie Kucowski, the Patriot League Player of the Week, is coming off her eighth double-double of the season with 20 points and 17 rebounds against UMBC.
- Kucowski ranks second in the NCAA in rebounds per game (12.9) and ranks second in the league in blocks (2.5) and scoring (14.2) average.
- Alexis Santarelli follows Kucowski in scoring (10.3) and rebounding (4.6).
- Sarah Agnello is the primary threat from deep, with 13 of her 22 field goals coming from 3-point range.
- The Leopards own the top field goal percentage defense (.361) and 3-point field goal percentage defense (.255) in the conference.
- BU won both of its games against Lafayette last season by one possession, while each of the last five matchups have been decided by five points or less.
- The Terriers lead the all-time series 14-8, but Lafayette holds the upper hand at 7-6 since BU joined the Patriot League.
- BU will host American on Sunday, Jan. 5 at 2 p.m.
