BOSTON - Looking to extend its four-game win streak, the Boston University women's basketball team will fly south to American for an afternoon tilt with the Eagles on Wednesday, Feb. 20. Tip-off is set for 11:30 a.m. and can be seen live on the Patriot League Network.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- Despite Riley Childs earning her first-career double-double and Payton Hauck posting a game-high 18 points, BU came up just short to Holy Cross, 64-61, on Saturday afternoon at Case Gym.
- Childs posted 11 points and a personal-best 13 rebounds, while Hauck went 7-of-13 from the field and 4-of-4 at the charity stripe.
- Hauck has been on fire over the last two games, leading the team in scoring in each game while shooting 51.5 percent (17-of-33) from the field.
- For the week, she averaged 20.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game last week, and went 6-of-6 from the free throw line.
- After going winless on the road in non-conference games at 0-6, BU has gone 6-1 in Patriot League games on the road.
- BU has heavily relied upon its primary rotation of Hauck, Nia Irving, Katie Nelson, Lauren Spearman, Naiyah Thompson and Riley Childs as those six have accounted for 91.0 percent of the team's minutes this season.
- In Patriot League games, those six are responsible for 95.0 percent of the team's total minutes.
- Childs has entered the starting lineup for the past three games, averaging 8.3 points and 8.6 rebounds.
- In the four games she has started, the first start coming Dec. 5 at Dartmouth, she has averaged 10.5 points and 7.3 rebounds.
SCOUTING AMERICAN
- American is riding a 12-game win streak and currently sits in second place in the Patriot League standings with a 12-1 clip.
- Cecily Carl leads the squad with 12.9 points per game, though she has been on fire over the last six, averaging 23.1 points.
- Carl dropped a Patriot League season-high of 37 at Colgate Feb. 2 and is coming off her fourth 20-point game over the six-game stretch with an even 20 in American's most recent outing against Lehigh, a 50-47 outcome.
- Kaitlyn Marenyi (12.3) and Elina Koskimies (11.8) are also averaging double figures, while Carl also leads in rebounding (5.6).
- Koskimies has hit at least one 3-pointer in 30 straight games.
- Indeya Sanders ranks fourth in the Patriot League with 3.6 assists per game.'
THE SERIES
- American is 10-3 against the Terriers since BU joined the Patriot League.
- The Eagles won the first matchup this season, 64-51, at Case Gym on Jan. 23.
- Four different Eagles recorded double-digit scoring figures while the defense held BU to shoot just 38.3 percent from the floor.
- Three of BU's four wins in the series have come at home.
