BOSTON – Leading by 11 points to start the fourth quarter, Lafayette used a 13-0 run to take the lead, but
Lauren Spearman delivered a go-ahead 3-point basket with two minutes remaining as the Boston University women's basketball held on for a 50-49 victory over the Leopards Wednesday night at The Roof.
With BU ahead by two, Lafayette missed its final shot attempt with two seconds left, though Natalie Kucowski grabbed the offensive rebound and was fouled and headed to the charity stripe with a chance to send the game into overtime. Kucowski made the first free throw, but the potential game-tying shot rimmed out, and
Nia Irving came up with the rebound to seal the season sweep.
Riley Childs posted her second double-double of the season with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Payton Hauck led the Terriers in scoring for the second straight game with 16 points, while Spearman also reached double figures with 11 points.
Katie Nelson matched a season high with seven assists.
