Terriers Continue Postseason Push Saturday at Army

BOSTON - Traveling for the final time of the regular season, the Boston University women's basketball will head to Army West Point as it looks to solidify its postseason position on Saturday, March 2. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. from Christl Arena and can be seen live on the Patriot League Network.
PATRIOT LEAGUE PICTURE
- BU is in third place in the Patriot League standings and is in prime position to host a quarterfinal tournament game for the first time.
- Lehigh also stands at 10-6, though the Terriers hold the tie breaker over the Mountain Hawks.
- With a win on Saturday, BU would clinch a first-round bye and a quarterfinal home game.
- Additionally, a win over Army and a Lehigh loss, the Terriers would lock up the No. 3 seed.
- With a win on Saturday, BU would lock up a winning season for the first time since the 2012-13 season.
- Furthermore, head coach Marisa Moseley would become the first first-year head coach of the Terriers to post a winning record since JoAnn O'Callaghan went 18-9 during the 1979-80 season.
- The Terriers have already passed their conference win total from last season and currently stand at 10-6 in conference games.
- The 2016-17 season was BU's best showing in Patriot League games, where it finished with an 11-7 record.
- BU needs to win out to finish with its best regular season record in Patriot League games since joining the conference for the 2013-14 season.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- Leading by 11 points to start the fourth quarter, Lafayette used a 13-0 run to take the lead, but Lauren Spearman delivered a go-ahead 3-point basket with two minutes remaining as BU held on for a 50-49 victory over the Leopards Wednesday.
- Payton Hauck led the Terriers in scoring for the second straight game with 16 points, while Spearman chipped in 11.
- Riley Childs posted her second double-double of the season with 14 points to go with 13 rebounds.
- Hauck has been on fire over the last five games, leading the team in scoring in four of those contests.
- During that stretch, she has averaged 16.6 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.
- Nia Irving leads the team in rebounding (8.7), which ranks fifth in the league, and ranks second in scoring with 11.7 points per game, which ranks 12th in the Patriot League.
- Lauren Spearman has taken every advantage of being in the starting lineup after coming off the bench the previous three season as she is tied for the Patriot League lead in 3-pointers per game (2.3) and ranks second in minutes (37.6).
- Katie Nelson leads team with 3.8 assists per game, which ranks second among Patriot League leaders.
- After going winless on the road in non-conference games at 0-6, BU has gone 6-2 in Patriot League games on the road.
SCOUTING ARMY WEST POINT
- The Black Knights are coming off an 85-80 defeat at Colgate for its second straight loss, falling to 11-16 overall and 6-10 in Patriot League games.
- Army currently stands in sixth place in the Patriot League standings.
- The Black Knights can finish no higher than sixth, but no lower than eighth.
- Madison Hovren matched a career high with 35 points against the Raiders while adding in 14 rebounds for her 20th double-double of the season.
- Hovren leads the Patriot League in scoring (18.8) and rebounding (12.9).
- Jess Lewis holds the league lead with 5.1 assists per game and ranks sixth with 1.7 triples per game.
- Lewis follows Hovren in scoring (8.1) and Kate Murray is right behind (7.3).
THE SERIES
- BU won the first matchup, 63-51, in its Patriot League opener Jan. 3 to pick up its first home win against the Black Knights since 1982.
- Naiyah Thompson notched her second career double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
- With the win, BU has now won three of the last four games against Army.

- The Terriers will close out the regular season at home against Loyola on Wednesday, March 6.
