HOW IT HAPPENED
- BU raced out to a 9-4 lead in the opening 3:33 with help from two driving layups from McLaughlin and junior Inés Monteagudo Pardo's right-corner triple off Adler's feed form the post.
- However, American executed a 14-0 run over a four-minute span that Rescifina and Laura Nogues contributed to with five points each. Sophomore Rose Azmoudeh's corner three halted the run 1:26 mark.
- Near the midpoint of the second quarter, the Eagles went up 14 following a 7-0 run from Nogues' triple from the wing and layups from Driscoll and Tuhy.
- Adler closed the first half on a 7-1 run in the final 2:29. She capped the spurt with a floater while drawing contact and completing the and-1 opportunity as BU trailed at halftime, 37-31.
- Both teams traded baskets in the third quarter's first 90 seconds before BU took a 48-39 lead thanks to a 15-0 run across a 2:46 span. Adler found sophomore Hildur Gunnsteinsdóttir in the corner for a three with 7:03 on the clock to shift the advantage to the Terriers.
- BU's lead grew to 57-45 with 2:12 to go in the third with Azmoudeh burying a three-pointer and Adler converting a layup.
- Tuhy nailed a triple 20 seconds later to jumpstart a 19-5 extended Eagle burst that bled to the midpoint of the fourth quarter. She bookended the run on a pull-jumper that made it 67-62 in American's favor.
- The Terriers missed their first 10 shots in the period until Adler made two consecutive hook shots.
- American did not make a field goal in the rest of regulation, relying on four free throws. Semenova made a layup with just under a minute on the clock to slice the deficit to one.
- Down 71-68, McLaughlin passed to Monteagudo on the right wing for a game-tying three-pointer with 22 seconds remaining. Both sides missed their final shots to send the game to overtime.
- Monteagudo ignited the extra stanza with a go-ahead triple at the 2:46 mark. On the Terriers' next play, Gunnsteinsdóttir found Adler on the block for a layup to push BU ahead by five, 76-71.
- Tuhy answered with a left-corner three to bring American within one possession. Adler made one foul shot while Grace Koepke nailed two for a 77-76 contest in BU's favor with under 40 seconds to play.
- Semenova corralled Adler's off-target layup, then Gunnsteinsdóttir lofted a pass to Adler on the high block. The left-handed hook fell for a three-point Terrier lead with 14.2 seconds left. Tuhy was off the mark on the game-tying triple on the next possession.
- BU made 30 of its 71 shots at a 42.3 percent clip. The Terriers hit six three-pointers and shot 76.5 percent from the foul line.
- American shot just over 38 percent from the field.
- Rebounds favored the Eagles, 51-41, including a 21-13 edge in offensive boards. However, those only translated to 17 second-chance points for American.
- The Terriers blocked 11 shots, their most in a game since Nov. 26, 2017 against Boston College. Semenova added three rejections.
- BU racked up 46 points in the paint and scored 14 points off 15 Eagle turnovers.
- According to OptaSTATS, Adler is the only Division I student-athlete, men's or women's, this century to record a statline of 33 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists and five blocks in a single game.
- She is the first Terrier to drop 30 points in a game since former teammate Alex Giannaros also did so against American back on Jan. 10, 2024 and first to drop 33 points since Caitlin Weimar's 33-point performance vs. UMass Lowell on Nov. 6, 2023.
- She and Semenova are the first Terrier duo to post double-doubles in the same game since Jan. 13, 2024, when Semenova and Weimar achieved the feat vs. Loyola Maryland.
- For Adler, it marks her third-career double-double. Semenova secured her second.
- BU has won three of its last four games.
- Under head coach Melissa Graves, the Terriers are 4-2 in overtime contests.
- The Eagles maintain the all-time series lead at 18-14.

- BU ends the regular season at home on Wednesday (March 4), hosting Holy Cross. Opening tip is slated for 6 p.m.
